With spring right around the corner, I can't help but start thinking about trail running on the 900+ acres rare has worked so hard to conserve and restore. The beautiful landscapes invigorate me, give me hope for the future, and allow me to connect with the natural environment every time I head out. Another rare hosted event that always comes to mind is the Walk & Run for rare that's held in September, a day that I am more than willing to donate my time and talent to photo document.
Having grown up in Cambridge with a passion for the environment and conservation, it was only natural that I quickly fell in love with everything rare is about! If you've ever taken that beautiful drive down Blair Road from the Kitchener border to Cambridge, (passing the beautiful Slit Barn facility - for Weddings and Events visit http://www.freshlookdesign.ca/) so much of that scenery is due in part to the hard work and conservation efforts of this local organization. Don't take it from me, here's a quote directly from their site to gain a deeper understanding: www.raresites.org
So sign up for the walk this coming year, donate to help in their efforts, enroll your kid(s) in the ECO school program, or take part in one of many of the activities rare hosts every year. I highly encourage anyone who enjoys nature, hiking, or organic gardening, to explore the property and get a sense of just how precious this protected land is. Most importantly, stay on the trail's and pay attention to the signs posted along the way!
