This was one of the more unique photo opportunities I've had the pleasure of shooting.. A while back Luke (2015 groom and friend of mine) informed me that he was going to be creating his own wedding bands from scratch! I quickly let him know that if I wasn't there to document the process step-by-step he wouldn't hear the end of it!
Luke is a blacksmith, which is a pretty rare trade these days, especially considering his age. He studied blacksmithing while working for Doon Heritage Village in Kitchener, ON which I'm sure we've all had the chance to visit at one point or another during our elementary school days. Luke wanted to do something special with this skill so decided to source some raw Bismuth and Damascus to try his hand at creating two types of wedding bands. This was all done in his front yard, with an assistant on a custom made furnace. The night we chose ended up being perfect for lighting as we started a few hours before sunset. There were a few minor issues along the way like any DIY project but I think you'll see from the photos that it was an overall success!
Congrats Luke & Allie.. See you at Casa Loma on Friday!
